ICE‑related chase spans 2 Mass. towns, ends with crash and suspects fleeing, police say

A van crashed in Medway on Wednesday morning during a pursuit involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, prompting temporary road closures in the area.

Officers responded to the area of West Street and Fisher Street after receiving multiple calls reporting unmarked law enforcement vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed, Medway Police Chief William Kingsbury said in a news release.

Kingsbury noted that one caller also reported that a white van had crashed on Fisher Street, with what appeared to be ICE agents on scene. Federal agents later told Medway police that ICE had attempted to stop the white van on Route 109 in Milford.

Kingsbury said the vehicle fled, struck an agent‑occupied vehicle, and continued east into Medway via West Street before turning onto Fisher Street.

Once on Fisher Street, the driver and a passenger jumped out of the van while it was still moving, according to Kingsbury. The vehicle then left the roadway and crashed near high‑tension power lines.

No injuries were reported in connection with the crash.

Agents searched the area on foot and by vehicle, but neither occupant was taken into custody, Kingsbury said.

The lower portion of Fisher Street was temporarily closed while crews worked at the scene. The vehicle has since been removed, and the roadway has reopened.

Medway police emphasized they were not involved in the immigration enforcement operation and only assisted with traffic control and the safe removal of the vehicle.
