What is the No! No! IPL Plus Hair Removal Device?
The No! No! IPL Plus is one of the most affordable at-home IPL devices I have tested, and I made it Best Value in my round-up of 10 machines. IPL devices are handheld gadgets that use high-intensity light pulses to remove body hair, and are a much cheaper alternative to in-salon laser treatments.
Some models retail for upwards of £500, whereas this compact IPL device can often be picked up for under £120. It doesn’t promise results as fast as some, but it claims to reduce hair growth after eight to 12 weeks of consistent use, and is safe to use on the face and body. Like any IPL machine, it works best on lighter skin tones with dark hair.
It has two magnetic attachments, which combine with the main head to offer three sizes of treatment window. There are five intensity levels, and manual and automatic settings. Another noteworthy feature is the built-in cooling technology, which soothes the target area for a comfortable hair removal treatment. It comes with safety glasses, as well as a razor.
JUMP TO:
How I test IPL hair removal devices
With any IPL device, I always do the recommended patch test, waiting 48 hours to check for any redness or irritation before I start my tests on clean, dry and shaved skin.
I tested the No! No! Plus once a week for several weeks using both the automatic and manual settings and gliding and pulsing techniques. I evaluated its ease of use, comfort levels, the usefulness of the attachments, its power levels and the overall efficacy.
While I trialled different intensity levels, I found I predominantly used the highest intensity setting, which No! No! Recommends for my dark hair and fair skin combination. I used the interchangeable heads on different-sized surface areas, from legs to face.
During my treatments, I paid close attention to the safety features, primarily the built-in cooling technology. I also evaluated the skin contact sensor, which only emits the light pulse when the IPL device is in contact with the skin.
After use, I avoided tight clothing and didn’t apply deodorant or body lotions to let my skin breathe.
Ease of use
Score: 4.5/5
The No! No! Plus IPL is easy to operate. The compact and lightweight handset is comfortable to hold for full-body sessions, and the cable didn’t restrict me from treating any areas.
The two controls make it easy to adjust the intensity, as well as to switch between automatic and manual modes. The power button on the base turns the device on and off, and increases the intensity, and the larger trigger button activates the light pulse, plus the automatic or manual setting mode. The device flashes blue when it is ready to use.
The automatic setting is the easiest to use. While this setting is compatible with all intensities, unlike some other devices, it doesn’t automatically adjust the setting to your hair and skin type.
Power
Score: 4/5
There are five intensity levels, which can be selected across both automatic and manual programmes. While the settings can be adjusted to suit your hair and skin combination, the built-in ultra-violet (UV) filter and cooling technology ensure this device is gentle on the skin, even at higher intensities.
No! No! claims this IPL device lasts for around 300,000 light pulses, which should roughly equate to a 15-year lifespan. The remaining pulse count is not displayed on a screen which would be useful to monitor the remaining light pulses (although if the 15-year claim is true, this isn’t a massive issue).
This IPL also switches off after five minutes of inactivity for safety.
Pain
Score: 5/5
I predominantly used the No! No! Plus IPL on the highest level (five) to target the dark hair on my fair skin across numerous areas of my body and it was painless. Throughout my testing I didn’t suffer any redness, irritation or heat spikes, which I have previously experienced during professional hair removal sessions.
I credit the built-in cooling technology for my comfortable experience, as it soothed my skin during the treatment and prevented the handset from overheating.
The device is fitted with a skin sensor that only activates the light pulse when in contact with the skin, which prevents any stray light pulses being emitted and causing an injury. Of course, anyone who notices any irritation should stop using the IPL immediately.
Attachments
Score: 3.5/5
There are two interchangeable magnetic heads, which sit on the fixed treatment window to create three window sizes. The magnetic design makes it quick and easy to swap the attachments, compared to stubborn detachable heads on other devices.
The treatment windows range from one to three square centimetres, which is smaller than rival IPL devices, such as Silk’n, Foreo and Braun. While the smaller windows were useful to treat intimate areas that required precision, I found it made treating large surface areas, such as my legs, time consuming.
I would have preferred it if the main device had a larger treatment window measuring, say around five square centimetres. One thing to note: the safety glasses included included are extremely dark, so I struggled to see through them while treating my legs.

The IPL ships with its own protective sunglasses
The No! No! Plus IPL promises visible results in eight to 12 weeks, and consistent monthly use for 18 to 24 months to notice long-term changes in hair growth. This is significantly longer than rival devices, such as Ulike and the Silk’n 7 IPL.
After several weeks of using the No! No! Plus IPL at the highest intensity, I’ve seen some subtle changes in my hair growth. I’ve noticed patches on my legs and underarms where hair has been slower to grow back than other areas.
While the No! No! Plus IPL may not deliver results as fast as other beauty tools, it is easy to use, gentle on the skin and significantly more affordable than regular waxing sessions or professional laser-hair removal.
Should you buy the No! No! IPL Plus Hair Removal Device?
If you are looking for a compact, lightweight and travel-friendly IPL device to get rid of hair, without the expense of visiting a salon, I would recommend this reasonably priced device. I love the cooling technology, which will also appeal to those with sensitive skin.
However, if you are new to IPLs and home hair removal devices, you may wish to find an IPL with more guidance to help you through your session, such as an automatic skin and hair detector.

No! No! IPL Plus Hair Removal Device FAQs
Does No! No! permanently remove hair?
The No! No! Plus IPL aims to reduce hair growth, but it does not permanently remove hair. Depending on your hair and skin combination, the intensity and frequency of use, users will notice a visible reduction in hair on the target areas after two or three months, though a longer duration is advised for long-term maintenance.
IPL devices do not permanently stop the hair cycle, but slow down the hair regrowth process. If you stop using the No! No! Plus IPL for several weeks, your hair will continue to grow.
Can you use No! No! on your face?
Yes, the No! No! Plus IPL is safe to use on the face, but only below the cheekbones. This IPL device features interchangeable heads with small treatment windows, which are handy for those wanting to target precise areas on the face.
However, it is vital you keep the device out of reach of the delicate eye area, use the protective eyewear provided in the set and do not use it on broken skin. No! No! also advises avoiding if you have undergone any aesthetic treatments in the last three to six months, used topical steroid creams or skincare with active ingredients.
Does No! No! hurt?
In my experience, the No! No! Plus IPL didn’t hurt at all, even on the highest intensity and on sensitive areas of my body. I never experienced redness, burning or irritation and the cooling technology ensured my treatment was comfortable.
However, it is important to patch test before use, and to stop using if you notice any irritation.
Does No! No! really work?
Yes, the No! No! Plus IPL does work. Admittedly, I found the device didn’t achieve visible hair reduction on my body as quickly as other devices, such as Ulike, which reduces hair growth in two weeks. However, No! No! emphasises that results will start to show between eight to 12 weeks after consistent use, so be patient and trust the process as results will start to show.
It is important to note the No! No! Plus IPL is not effective for those with white, grey or red hair or Fitzpatrick skin types IV+.
How do you use a No! No! hair removal device?
Before using, make sure the IPL device is charged, then use the correct attachment and choose the treatment level. Start at the lowest level and work your way up. Glide the device at a 90 degree angle against hair growth, then afterwards, buff the hair away and moisturise your skin.
Use the device two to three times a week for the first four to six weeks, then reduce to once or twice a week, depending on your own hair growth rate.
Technical specifications
No! No! offers two at-home IPL devices; the No! No! Plus IPL and the No! No! Ice IPL. Both devices are significantly more affordable than competitors, which is appealing to beauty enthusiasts on a budget. At first glance, there are visible differences between the two No! No! devices, however, there are some technical differences that may go undetected to the naked eye.
