Jeff Bezos is the second-richest person in the world, with an estimated net worth of $209.5 billion. He is best known as the founder and former CEO
of amazon
. The company, which started as an online bookstore, is now considered the world’s largest of its type.
As Bezos is required to constantly travel to fulfill his responsibilities as a key stakeholder of the company, conventional means of transportation are not always available or suitable. To save time and simplify the logistics of his travels, he operates several private business jets that take him to different places around the world.

The benefits of flying private jets, however, are not only limited to flexibility and comfort. Due to their relatively smaller size, they can land on smaller and shorter runways than commercial airliners.

The fleet
Jeff Bezos owns a fleet of four aircraft and two helicopters, making it a very impressive line-up, worth over $140 million. The entire collection includes:
One of the Gulfstream
G650ERs has, however, been listed for sale on Controller with the asking price being $37,450,000. The aircraft was built in 2015 and has a total time of 3,533 hours with 1,285 landings.
Looking at the jets, it is clear that Bezos has a preference for the Gulfstream aircraft. Some other competetive choices, similar to the newly purchased G700, include Bombardier Global 7500
or Dassault Falcon
8X. Bezos’s newest addition was purchased last year in July for a staggering $80 million dollars, making it the most expensive plane in the fleet.
Gulfstream G700
The G700 bought by Jeff Bezos was the 20th aircraft off the production line and is considered by many to be the most luxurious business jet on the market. The model was introduced at the beginning of 2024 and is one of the best-performing jets by Gulfstream.

It offers the biggest cabin, fastest cruise and furthest range out of all private business jets, surpassing the Bombardier Global 7500, which previously led in the category. The G700 was based on the slightly smaller G650 and shares most of the design and technologies, including the fly-by-wire system and Honeywell flight deck.

In 2014, Gulfstream released an extended version of the G650 able to fly across 7,500 nautical miles at a cruising speed of Mach 0.85. This was thanks to its significantly increased fuel capacity.
The production ended in February 2025, as Gulfstream is replacing it with the newer, similarly sized G800. Priced at $72.5 million, the upgraded model shares the cabin with its predecessor but offers an extended – 8,000-nautical mile range.

The PC-24 is a light business jet produced by Swiss Pilatus Aircraft company. It was introduced in 2013 and designed as a more robust version of the successful PC-12, keeping its rough-field capabilities.
In 2020, the aircraft will be certified to operate to and from gravel, snow, dry sand, grass and wet soil. Pilatus has delivered over 100 orders as of early 2021, and it’s priced at around $12.2 million.
The biggest selling point of the PC-24 is its ability to reach places outside the reach of conventional business jets. It was granted both European and US steep approach certification, allowing it to fly to airports such as London city airport
with 5.5 degree glideslope.

How much time does Bezos save flying private?
It should not come as a surprise that flying privately is vastly different from conventional air transport. There is no need to rush or arrive at the terminal over an hour before the departure. Flying from the VIP terminals takes 20 minutes, more than enough time to get through all the required security, as there are no lines.

Another factor affecting the time savings is the speed of the aircraft. Private business jets can usually fly faster than airliners, making a noticeable distance over long routes. They also reach their cruise levels quicker, due to lower mass.
Additionally, any unscheduled delays, such as issues with the crew, unruly passengers or planning factors, can greatly affect the time of travel. These almost never happen when flying private.

There are also more airports that can accommodate business jets compared to airliners. They require shorter runways, less apron space and less rigorous restrictions. In the United States alone there are over 4000 airports able to welcome private jets. In contrast, airliners can fly to around 500 airports in the country.
According to FlyHyer private business travel allows one to save approximately two hours per flight on average, with the most optimistic reports showing four hours.
The most popular route flown by the Billionaire was between his residence in Miami

How Jeff Bezos’s jets compare to other billionaires
Jeff Bezos is the owner of one of the most modern business jets in the world, having bought the 20th G700 ever produced. Before, he mostly used the G650ER, which also holds high esteem in the aviation community.

Despite having a luxurious and admirable fleet, it is relatively modest in comparison to other billionaires. Elon Musk also owns multiple G650ERs and G550, which he often uses to fly between SpaceX
and Tesla headquarters. As another example, Bill Gates flies a fleet of Bombardier
Global Express aircraft.
Despite criticism regarding the carbon footprint, Bezos is an advocate for eco-friendly initiatives, which include substantial investments in sustainable aviation fuel. The choice of aircraft shows a preference for comfort, effectiveness and technology, which are vital for one of the world’s richest men. Despite public opinion, private business jets are and will continue to be the preferred means of transport for high-net-worth individuals, like Jeff Bezos.
