Florida’s cold temperatures are nothing more than a memory, except for the view of all the brown trees and plants in our yards.
When will we see spring-like temps?
Queue the suspense music. OK, maybe it should be horror music.
In typical Florida fashion, we’re going to skip right over spring and jump right into summer.

Florida temps to be 10-20 degrees above average this week
“The heat will be on across Florida through much of this week as a large area of high pressure is anchored across the East Coast,” according to Alex DaSilva, AccuWeather lead hurricane expert via email, March 9.
“The record-challenging temperatures will be in place through Wednesday (March 11) before a cold front moves through on Thursday and Thursday night.
“Through Wednesday, temperatures can be 10-20 degrees above the historical average across the entire state. While the frontal passage will bring some relief from the heat, temperatures on Friday (March 13) can still be a few degrees above historical averages.
“Only northern portions of Florida will see considerable relief from the humidity late in the week. Central and South Florida will remain humid.”
Current drought conditions in Florida
Did recent rain help Florida’s drought?
Not really. While some areas have seen a little rain lately, it hasn’t helped drought conditions in Florida.
As of March 3, 100% of Florida is suffering from drought ranging from moderate to extreme, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.
More than two-thirds of the state — 70.5% — is experiencing extreme drought.
Expect March, April to be dry in Florida
March 2026 precipitation outlook calls for below-average rainfall for most of Florida.
“Most areas will see under 2 inches of rain over the next 10 days, although some areas can see over 2 inches where there are locally heavier storms,” DaSilva said.
“The rest of the month of March is forecast to yield below historical average rainfall for Florida overall. As a result, the fire risk will remain elevated, especially on windy days.
“It looks like April will be hot and dry, as well.”
Did someone say cold front? Don’t get your hopes up
A front moving through Florida late this week could provide a little relief, but don’t expect too much.
“While the frontal passage will bring some relief from the heat, temperatures on Friday can still be a few degrees above historical averages,” DaSilva said.
“Only northern portions of Florida will see considerable relief from the humidity late in the week. Central and South Florida will remain humid.
“I don’t think we are done with cold fronts. Looks like the pattern will support another (potentially stronger) cold front to move through between the 16th and 18th (of March). The few days preceding the cold front will heat up once again.”
Burn bans remain in effect across most of Florida peninsula
