Hongkongers wake up to cool weather, as temperatures fall to 15 degrees Celsius

Hongkongers woke up to cool weather on Sunday as temperatures fell to about 15 degrees Celsius (59 Fahrenheit) in urban areas, while strong winds were also expected.

The Observatory said there would be cool and windy conditions over the coastal areas of southern China, under the influence of a northeast monsoon.

“Strong winds are expected from the north. The public should beware the possible danger brought by rough seas,” the forecaster said.

It added that temperatures across the city were generally four to five degrees lower than they had been on Saturday.

In urban areas, the mercury ranged from a low of 14.1 degrees in Kwun Tong to about 15.8 degrees in Happy Valley at around 7am. Temperatures on Tai Mo Shan, the city’s highest peak, dropped to as low as 5.8 degrees.
