Hong Kong’s new sport and entertainment hub’s spectacular opening

Hong Kong’s sporting and entertainment has soared to new heights with the grand opening of Kai Tak Sports Park this month.

Marking a major milestone in the city’s push to become a global events destination, the launch event was a vibrant celebration of sport, culture and entertainment, featuring an all-star lineup of athletes, performers and industry leaders.

Blending sport with music, the ceremony featured legendary martial artists, Olympic champions, and rising music stars, embodying the themes of struggle and ambition. Iconic athletes from both Hong Kong and Mainland China, along with elite representatives of the National and Hong Kong teams, showcased traditional Chinese sports such as badminton and table tennis, reflecting the deep cultural heritage and unity between generations.

The highlight of the evening was the grand finale, where all performers united in a powerful showcase of talent and passion. As the event reached its climax, the venue was illuminated by a dazzling LED light show on the stadium’s exterior, visible across Victoria Harbour. Paired with fireworks and celebratory visuals, this breathtaking display cemented Kai Tak Sports Park’s status as a new beacon for Hong Kong on the global stage.

Positioning Hong Kong as a global sports and entertainment hub

“With the completion and opening of Kai Tak Sports Park, Hong Kong is better positioned to actively attract large-scale international events, drawing more visitors and investments, injecting new vitality into the development of sports and performing arts culture industries,” Kai Tak Sports Park CEO John Sharkey said.

“We will make full use of the park’s international standard advanced sports facilities to assist the Hong Kong Government in realizing the vision of an international sports platform, developing the sports industry’s home court economy, and welcoming entertainment events to shine on the international stage at Kai Tak!”

Beyond its entertainment offerings, Kai Tak Sports Park has also announced long-term partnerships with leading local and international enterprises, solidifying its role as a premier venue for global events. Key partners include HSBC as the Premier Founding Partner, alongside CTF Life, Cathay, Coca-Cola, HKT, and Marriott Bonvoy as Founding Partners, with additional Official Partners and Suppliers joining the initiative.

Exciting lineup of events for ‘Hong Kong Super March’

The launch of Kai Tak Sports Park also marks the start of ‘Hong Kong Super March,’ a month-long calendar of major sporting events designed to position Hong Kong as the “Premier Hub for Mega Events.”

  • March 4-9: World Grand Prix 2025

  • March 16: Kai Tak Sports Initiative – Kai Tak Run

  • March 28-30: Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2025

Looking ahead, Kai Tak Sports Park will play host to a diverse range of international sports and music events, including key test matches for the upcoming 15th National Games in November. For the first time, Hong Kong will host four official competitions as part of the National Games, further reinforcing its status as a global sporting hub. Additionally, the venue will welcome the 12th National Disabled Persons’ Games and the 9th Special Olympics National Games, underscoring its commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in sports.

As Kai Tak Sports Park embarks on its journey as a world-class sports and entertainment hub, its state-of-the-art facilities and dynamic event lineup promise to bring unforgettable experiences to visitors from Hong Kong, Asia, and beyond.
