Ten people were injured in Hong Kong on Friday when a bus crashed into a police vehicle, including an officer who was in a critical condition after falling 10 metres (33 feet) off a bridge at the moment of impact.
The driver of the Citybus vehicle was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm by dangerous driving, according to the force.
Four men, including the officer, four women and two children were injured. They were aged between four and 64.
Seven were bus passengers. The bus driver and a taxi driver were also injured. Apart from a broken arm, they suffered minor injuries.
Police Commissioner Joe Chow Yat-ming told reporters at Tuen Mun Hospital where the officer was being treated that the constable remained in a critical condition, and the force was providing all possible help to his family.
Chow said the policeman belonged to the enforcement and control division of the traffic branch in New Territories North.
