Hong Kong police have arrested a 54-year-old man who allegedly punched a taxi driver, forcing the latter to stop his vehicle midway through the ride.
The force said it received a call for help from a 64-year-old cabby at 11.47pm on Thursday, with the driver saying he had been punched by a passenger during a ride from North Point to Tseung Kwan O.
The driver was forced to stop his vehicle, but the alleged assault continued. The passenger also allegedly damaged the taxi.
Officers arrived at the scene and arrested the 54-year-old suspect for assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage.
Police said the suspect appeared to be drunk at the time.
The driver, who suffered injuries to his forehead and had his glasses damaged, was sent to Tseung Kwan O Hospital for treatment, together with the suspect.
