Homicide At DART Station – Suspect Kills Father In Front Of Family

A suspect killed a man in front of the victim’s family at a Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) station.

Demetrius Rogers, 18, allegedly shot and killed a man at the 8th and Corinth DART Station on December 18, according to WFAA.

DART VP of Public Relations Erin Myers told The Dallas Express the victim was 28-year-old Erin LaJames Graham.

“The incident did not occur on board a DART vehicle,” Myers said.

Rogers is currently facing a murder charge, according to Dallas County Jail records. He was booked with no bond on December 19.

The night of the killing, DART Police responded to a “fatal shooting” around 9:40 p.m., according to Myers.

When Rogers arrived at the station with his brother, he reportedly said “Excuse me” while they walked past Graham and his kids, according to WFAA. Graham then replied, “Excuse you,” which offended Rogers’ brother.

Rogers’ brother and Graham “took fighting stances” when Rogers allegedly shot the victim in the chest. DART Police reportedly detained Rogers at the station because he matched the description of the shooter.

Graham died at Methodist Dallas Medical Center just before midnight, according to the medical examiner’s records. His manner of death was labeled a “homicide.”

On November 7, A shooter wounded a passenger on a DART train near the Akard Station in downtown Dallas – directly across from DART headquarters, as The Dallas Express reported at the time. The suspect fled before police arrived.

In October, a suspect in a “Jason Voorhees-style hockey mask” opened fire on a DART train near the Pearl/Arts District Station, killing a 43-year-old passenger. Even earlier, another shooter reportedly killed a 53-year-old Irving restaurant manager near the Market Center Station in late September.

Group A offenses – including arson, assault, robbery, and drugs – reported by DART Police have grown 7.19% overall since January, according to the most recent data in the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS).

Among these offenses, crimes against persons fell by 19.77%, and crimes against property fell by 26.74%. Meanwhile, crimes against society increased by 58.43% – the most common being drug paraphernalia, drug, and weapons violations.
