ABC is renewing one of its biggest and most popular shows for a sixth season, bringing back a fan-favorite show that’s won a ton of awards.

ABC’s hit series Abbott Elementary is coming back for a sixth season. The show got an early Season 6 renewal, which should come as no surprise as it is one of the most popular shows on television. The new season was announced on the show’s social media page, with fans encouraged to call in to Barbara Howard (Sheryl Lee Ralph) to hear a message about it as well.
Abbott Elementary’s ratings are through the roof. To date, the show is TV’s highest-rated comedy among adults in the 18-49 age range. The show has also taken home several awards, including four wins at the Primetime Emmy Awards and 30 total nominations.
Abbott Elementary is created and executive-produced by Brunson, who leads the cast as Janine Teagues. The sitcom also stars Tyler James Williams as Gregory Eddie, Janelle James as Ava Coleman, Lisa Ann Walter as Melissa Schemmenti, Chris Perfetti as Jacob Hill, William Stanford Davis as Mr. Johnson, and Emmy Award winner Sheryl Lee Ralph as Barbara Howard. For its fourth season, the show received six Emmy Award nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series.
