Fans of Coldwater are wondering what’s next for the intense ITV thriller after its finale. Many are curious to know whether it will return for a Season 2. The six-episode drama has now finished airing of Paramount+.
So, let’s find out if Coldwater Season 2 is on the way.
Has ITV canceled Coldwater or renewed it for Season 2?
At this time, Coldwater has not been renewed for a Season 2. ITV has not officially canceled it either. The series remains in limbo. Coldwater first aired in the UK on ITV and streamed in the U.S. on Paramount+. The series stars Andrew Lincoln, Eve Myles, Indira Varma, and Ewen Bremner.
In September 2025, writer David Ireland spoke about the idea of a second season (via Mirror). He admitted, “Because I’d never really written this kind of stuff before, I never even thought of a second series,” he said.
But as he finished writing the final episodes, his thoughts changed. “As I got towards the end of writing the last two episodes, I thought it would be good, if possible, to keep this going because I do find the characters really fascinating and it would be great to keep them going for a few more seasons.”
Ireland also described writing the series as challenging. “It was really, really hard. Writing six hours of TV and drama and thriller is really hard just to find ways to keep the audience interested. Instead of writing one play it’s like writing six plays that have to interconnect with each other.” Even so, he said he has always loved thrillers and found the experience “exciting.”
For now, fans of the series will have to wait. The show will wrap up on Paramount+ on February 13, 2026. There has been no official announcement about a second season yet. However, writer David Ireland hopes the story is not over.
