Disney released the trailer for the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special featuring Miley Cyrus. It marks her first time performing as the character in about 15 years.

The special premieres March 24 on Disney+, the same date the original series debuted on Disney Channel in 2006. The trailer shows Cyrus returning to recreated sets from the series and revisiting music and moments connected to the show.

According to Disney, the program will include never-before-seen footage, recreations of the show’s set, revisited iconic scenes, and “familiar notes that find their way back into the spotlight.” The special features a live studio audience interview with Cyrus, hosted by Alex Cooper.

In the trailer, Cyrus says, “Already getting emotional” while walking through recreated locations, including the Hannah Montana closet and the Stewart family living room. Cooper tells Cyrus in the footage, “This show defined your generation,” and Cyrus replies, “This anniversary is for them. It’s for us.”

Hannah Montana originally ran for four seasons from 2006 to 2011 and received four Emmy nominations for outstanding children’s program. The story followed teenager Miley Stewart in Malibu, California, who secretly lived a double life as pop star Hannah Montana.

Cast members included Emily Osment as Lilly Truscott, Mitchel Musso as Oliver Oken, Jason Earles as Jackson Stewart, and Billy Ray Cyrus as Robby Stewart. Moisés Arias appeared as Rico Suave. Guest stars during the series included Dolly Parton, Selena Gomez, the Jonas Brothers, Dwayne Johnson, Larry David, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Kelly Ripa, and Lisa Rinna.

Disney released the theatrical film Hannah Montana: The Movie in April 2009 during the show’s third season. The television series became a major hit with children and tween audiences.
