Google Photos for Android now backs up all RAW images automatically

The Google Photos app has started automatically backing up all RAW images, reports 9to5Google. On a Pixel 8 that previously captured RAW pictures with the Pixel Camera app, the publication spotted Google Photos displaying a banner saying, “New RAW photos will appear in the Photos view and will now be backed up.” The existing RAW images on the device won’t be uploaded automatically.

When you click a RAW photo, a JPEG version is also captured and uploaded automatically to Google Photos. That’s not ideal if you take a lot of pictures in RAW since RAW files are larger than JPEG and could fill up your Google One storage quickly. Not to mention, it will also consume more data for upload.

The source also reports that the uploaded image appears in the main “Photos” tab in the Google Photos app with the “RAW” label in its top-right corner. The JPEG file is considered a part of the “Burst,” and a switcher appears at the bottom when you open a RAW file, allowing you to switch between JPEG and RAW.

Google Photos for Android now backs up all RAM images automatically

When you are viewing the RAW file, you get “Set as main photo” and “Keep this photo only” options, while JPEG shows “Export this photo” or “Keep this photo only.”

Google Photos for Android now backs up all RAM images automatically

If you have limited Google One storage available, shooting only in JPEG is advisable since there’s no easy way to restrict automatic RAW image uploads to Google Photos.

Trump’s meeting with Xi will strike delicate balance – The News Herald

President Donald Trump is scheduled to attend a summit in May with President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China. High on the latter’s list of priorities is Taiwan (which maintains a fragile independence). China’s communist government under Xi suspects Trump can be persuaded to forsake Taiwan (at least in official verbiage). The arrangement is complicated.

When Barcelona and Atlético lock horns, the resulting contest is never merely a game; it is a study in contrasts. Barcelona, with its revered tiki-taka tradition and possession-based philosophy, stands in stark opposition to Atlético’s more direct, physically intense approach. The Catalans pride themselves on fluid movement and patient build-up play, while the Colchoneros thrive on counter-attacking speed, disciplined pressing, and unwavering mental fortitude. In the grand theatre of the Champions League, these stylistic fault lines become even more pronounced. Barcelona seeks to impose its rhythm from the first whistle, circulating the ball with precision and searching for the decisive pass. Atlético, by contrast, is content to cede territory temporarily, inviting pressure before striking suddenly through the likes of Luis Suárez or Ángel Correa. The tactical battle between possession and counter-attack, artistry and pragmatism, often determines which club advances in Europe’s premier club competition. Historically, both sides have tasted success in the tournament, yet neither can claim consistent dominance. Barcelona’s five European crowns sit alongside Atlético’s single triumph, a reminder that silverware is never guaranteed. For neutrals, the clash is a masterclass in strategic diversity; for supporters, it is a nerve-shredding test of principles. As the next meeting looms, the question remains: which philosophy will prevail, and who will claim the upper hand in the race for Champions League glory?

Translated by In football, as in life, the numbers never lie—yet they rarely tell the full story. Stats can showcase a striker’s goals, a midfielder’s assists, or a defender’s tackles, but they cannot capture the intangibles that define the modern game: the subtle weight of leadership, the spark of creativity, the grit that keeps a
