Global Local has launched a new UK-based music roster dedicated to showcasing disabled artists.
Two years in the making, UnMute aims to increase visibility and access for disabled artists while supporting promoters and venues in making practical adjustments via tools like the Musicians’ Union Access Rider. The initiative was developed with input from industry bodies including the Musicians’ Union, Attitude Is Everything and Drake Music, and is led by creative director Andrew Lansley.
The UnMute roster, which features artists such as Drag Syndrome, Deaf Rave, Kray-z-Legz, Rightkeysonly and Tarantism, is now live and open for bookings, with confirmed appearances at festivals including Shambala and The Great Escape. It follows a soft launch at the Association of Independent Festivals (AIF) Congress earlier this year.
Global Local, an organisation that focuses on supporting diverse and underrepresented artists, will integrate UnMute artists into its existing network of festivals and venues, with a focus on facilitating collaborations and long-term career development.
