Steve Burton, known for his stint in General Hospital, is making headlines due to issues with his ex-wife, Sheree Gustin. The actor is taking Burton to court regarding the custody of their 11-year-old daughter.
Steve Burton and ex-wife to settle custody matter in court
As per court documents by TMZ, Steve Burton wants his ex-wife, Sheree Gustin, to cooperate in the custody matter. The 55-year-old claimed that the pair share legal and physical custody following their divorce judgment.
Burton has shared that Gustin is not complying with the deal by not giving him their daughter, Brooklyn. Gustin has allegedly “engaged in a pattern of unilateral decision making and deliberate obstruction that has effectively stripped Steve of his court-ordered parenting time.”
She ended up enrolling Brooklyn in a six-week program in California that interfered with his custodial time. Gustin reportedly refused to let their daughter vacation with her dad and has dragged her into the matter.
Moreover, Burton told his former wife that he “felt manipulated by her actions.” He has also requested the court to make Gustin follow the custody deal and be fined $5,000 for her behavior.
Previously, in court documents obtained by InTouch, Gustin claimed, “[Steve] has started to message me and accuse me of parental alienation if he cannot get ahold of Brooklyn.” She added that she has been recieving the “harassing” messages “almost daily.”
However, Burton’s lawyer, Sarah C. Clark, denied the allegations. She told Us Weekly, “Steve maintains that Sheree’s allegations are categorically false. He has, and will continue to, act in the best interests of the parties’ daughter, Brooklyn, which includes ensuring there is frequent and continuing contact with both parents.”
The statement further read, “On May 12, 2025, the Court heard the evidence loud and clear and granted Steve additional custodial time with Brooklyn that Sheree was unwilling to provide.” Steve Burton and Sheree Gustin finalized their divorce in December 2023. The pair shares their three kids: two daughters and a son.
