A Toyota joint venture in China has launched the new bZ7 pure electric sedan, seeking to boost sales in the world’s largest electric vehicle (EV) market.

GAC Toyota rolled out the mid-to-large-size sedan on Sunday, setting a limited-time subsidized starting price of 147,800 yuan ($21,380).

The bZ7 is the second model led by Toyota’s Chinese engineering team, following the bZ3X. Its launch marks Toyota’s latest push in the Chinese EV market, aiming to attract consumers by integrating local technology.

The model is equipped with the DriveONE electric drive system provided by Huawei. The motor delivers a maximum power of 207 kW and supports a top speed of 180 km/h.

It features lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries supplied by CALB, with 71-kWh and 88-kWh capacity options, offering a pure electric range of 600 kilometers or 710 kilometers.

The bZ7 features the full version of Huawei’s HarmonySpace 5 cockpit, and it is also integrated into Xiaomi’s in-car smart ecosystem.

For autonomous driving assistance, it is equipped with a roof-mounted LiDAR and the Momenta R6 intelligent driving assistance system. This enables the vehicle to support Navigation on Autopilot (NOA) functions for both urban roads and highways.

The vehicle’s chassis and comfort configurations were also highlighted by the company. The bZ7 is equipped with a dual-chamber air suspension system, and the interior offers zero-gravity seats to enhance the ride experience.

GAC Toyota is offering an aggressive warranty policy for the battery and air springs. If the battery degrades by more than 10% within two years or 50,000 kilometers, the company will replace it for free. The warranty period for the air springs has been extended to 10 years or 300,000 kilometers.

The bZ7 made its debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show in late November 2025 and officially began pre-sales on March 5 this year. At today’s launch event, GAC Toyota said that pre-sale orders for the model have exceeded 10,000 units.

The bZ7 has now fully arrived at stores nationwide in China, and GAC Toyota promised that the new model will be available for immediate delivery to consumers upon launch.
