FC Barcelona News: 15 January 2026; All set for Copa del Rey Round of 16 tie against Racing Santander

He’s one of the family now. João Cancelo has completed his first training session under the orders of Hansi Flick. The Portuguese full-back, unveiled this Tuesday on his return on loan to the club, got to meet his new team-mates and was reunited with familiar faces from his previous spell in blaugrana.

After lifting the first trophy of the season by winning the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid, Barça are straight back into knockout action, with a do-or-die trip to Racing Santander for the Copa del Rey round of 16. Speaking ahead of the game, Hansi Flick acknowledged that the Cantabrian side “will be highly motivated and very clear in their ideas … They are a young team and I’ve really enjoyed their football.”

FC Barcelona and Racing Santander, who currently top the standings in La Liga and LaLiga Hypermotion (the top two tiers of Spanish football), face each other this Thursday at 9pm CET at El Sardinero in the Copa del Rey Round of 16.
