Kowloon walled city’

Kowloon Walled City, once infamous for its labyrinthine alleys and lawless energy, has captivated the imaginations of filmmakers, historians, and curious explorers for decades. A place of intrigue and mystery, it has long served as a backdrop for various films, with its crumbling buildings, chaotic streets, and an urban maze that seemed to operate beyond the law. Today, the spirit of this iconic area is being brought back to life with a cutting-edge, immersive movie set exhibition, inviting visitors to step into the gritty, vibrant world of the Walled City as it appeared during the 1980s.

“Kowloon Walled City: A Cinematic Journey” Movie Set Exhibition

Launched on May 23, 2025, the “Kowloon Walled City: A Cinematic Journey” exhibition is Hong Kong’s largest-ever movie set display. The exhibition draws inspiration from the 2024 action-packed blockbuster Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In, offering visitors a first-hand look at a meticulously recreated Walled City, depicted in all its raw and gritty glory. This movie set exhibition is more than just a tribute; it is a historical exploration that allows visitors to dive deep into one of Hong Kong’s most culturally rich and enigmatic neighborhoods.

For the next three years, tourists and movie buffs alike can wander through lifelike, full-scale replicas of the Walled City’s alleyways, from a traditional tailor shop and a bone-setting clinic to a bustling fish ball factory and barber’s stall. The authenticity and attention to detail in these recreated spaces allow visitors to imagine what life might have been like in this densely packed urban jungle, where every corner told a different story.

Exhibition Details:

  • Exhibition Period: From May 24, 2025, for three years
  • Opening Hours: 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM (May to August 2025); 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (September 2025 onwards)
  • Venue: Yamen, Kowloon Walled City Park
