Bones stars Emily Deschanel and Carla Gallo opened up about the possibility to returning for a potential revival of the hit procedural drama, which ended its 12-season run on Fox last 2017. In the show, Deschanel played the leading role of forensic athropologist Temperance Brennan, while Gallo portrayed the character of Daisy Wick.
The original show series was created and executive produced by Hart Hanson. It follows the story of a female forensic anthrolopologist, who has an impressive ability to read clues from victims’ bones. Because of this, law enforcement often enlists her services to help them with investigations when remains are so badly decomposed, burned or destroyed that standard identification methods are useless.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer vet David Boreanaz also led the cast as FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth, who becomes Brennan’s partner in solving cases. Since making its debut in 2005, the series has maintained a high rating of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Emily Deschanel on returning for a potential Bones revival
During a recent interview, Deschanel and Gallo discussed the possibility of a Bones revival, admitting that they already had conversations about this with other cast members. However, it’s not really up to them, but if given the opportunity, Deschanel, Gallo, and TJ Thyne would be eager to reprise their respective roles in a potential reboot.
“People talk about potentially rebooting the show in some way,” Deschanel said. “It is the 20th anniversary this year, so it’d be fun to do something for that, but I don’t know. I’m not in charge of such things, but I’d be down for it.”

“I keep bringing it up! We had TJ [Thyne, who played Jack Hodgins] for that premium content, and I was like, okay, TJ, would you do a reboot? And he was like yeah, I would,” Gallo added. “It’s definitely been coming up. I’m over-eager. I’m like, when is this? When are we doing this? When are we getting this going?”
She continued, “We have such affection. When you’re talking to [Bones creator] Hart Hanson, [producer] Barry Josephson — everyone’s love of this show, the deep investment in this show, in the making of it. Everyone misses it.”
