Eintracht Frankfurt consider permanent €27m purchase of Forest striker Arnaud Kalimuendo

Sport Bild reports that Eintracht Frankfurt are considering pulling the trigger on Forest striker Arnaud Kalimuendo’s rather expensive €27m purchase clause. The option embedded in the 24-year-old’s loan agreement never really counted as a feasible path for Kaimuendo’s Bundesliga outfit to take, but the German tabloid reports that the SGE are reconsidering.

How well has Arnaud Kalimuendo performed in the Bundesliga?

The striker has actually already netted three Bundesliga goals in five league starts. A shoulder injury recently sidelined him for a brief period of time, but Kalimuendo was able to return quickly and score off the bench in Saturday’s league loss against Bayern Munich. Whether Kalimuendo is set to receive more starts now that lead striker Jonathan Burkardt is back from injury nevertheless remains to be seen.

Sport Bild claims that newly installed SGE head coach Albert Riera remains a big supporter of Kalimuendo. That notwithstanding, one must also take into account the fact that a permanent purchase of the former PSG academy man will also leave Eintracht on the hook for a €3m annually salary. Kalimuendo will have to produce plenty more goals before becoming a permanent Bundesliga player.
