Ed Sheeran recently sat down for an interview, where he discussed a plethora of topics. During this discussion, he was asked about his connection with Taylor Swift and a favorite memory he shared with her. This led to the Thinking Out Loud singer sharing some insight on their decades-long friendship.
Sheeran spoke about his time on the 2013-14 Red Tour with Swift, where he served as the opening act. The tour wasn’t just a musical collaboration—it was the foundation of a meaningful relationship built over time.
“I lived in Nashville and she lived in Nashville and we used to fly to and from the gigs together and do all sorts of, I don’t know,” he told Call Her Daddy podcast’s Alex Cooper. He also mentioned that he spent time with her for nearly six months, “almost every single day.”
The Shape of You artist recalled feeling “nostalgic,” while going through old voice notes to give to his lawyers for court cases that took roughly two years. These court cases were about his 2023 copyright infringement lawsuit for his 2014 single, “Thinking Out Loud.”
Sheeran then mentioned in the podcast that he would see Swift “four times a year,” where instead of connecting all the time, they would have “proper sit-down, six-hour catchups.” The 34-year-old artist said that the way they connected was a “really nice way to do it.”
Ed Sheeran previously spoke about his friendship with Taylor Swift in a 2023 interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. He mentioned that he and The Tortured Poets Department artist would have “long, long, long conversations,” because she was one of the few people who truly understood his place in life and the challenges he faced as an artist. Sheeran also called his conversations with Swift, “therapy.”
