Following the Feb. 28 attack on Iran, Donald Trump’s presidential approval rating Feb. 28 brought mixed reviews among Americans, some of whom have questioned the president’s job performance.
The president hit all-time low job approval numbers in his second four-year term just prior to his State of the Union address last month, however reaction of his 108-minute speech proved positive, according to the Economist/YouGov poll, which netted 57% positive reviews of the speech versus 32% that felt it was poor.
However, last week’s attack on Iran and the rising conflict have created a polarized public sentiment and has impacted the financial market as Americans’ are concerned U.S. troops could be deployed to the Middle East.
In a Fox News survey, 61% of voters said they believe Iran poses “a real national security threat” to the United States, however this didn’t translate into support for the rising conflict, which polled 50% for and 50% against.
Other recent polls taken this week by CNN, NBC and YouGov, found a majority of voters disapprove of Iran strikes or Trump’s handling of the conflict, which they say they fear will further escalate.
Trump remains a polarizing figure who garners intense reactions, though his overall approval ratings have slightly risen since the start of March.
