Capo’s Pizzeria has been slinging pizzas in San Antonio since 2015, expanding with locations popping up across the city over the years. One of those Capo’s restaurants recently went dark, but customers should expect the pizza place to stage a comeback very soon.
The Capo’s located at the corner of Babcock Road and 410 is only temporarily closed, Richard Perna, the corporate chef and operations director of the San Antonio chain, tells MySA. Perna said the franchisee who previously operated the location is no longer in charge of the space.
“It was a franchise store, and it was extremely underperformed,” Perna said during a phone call on Monday, March 16. “We had to take control, so they’re moving a couple pieces of equipment out today, and then we’re taking over as a corporate store.”

Perna said that the Capo’s Pizzeria could reopen as early as this coming weekend (Saturday, March 21), but he added that it may end up reopening early next week, Monday, March 23. In the meantime, the restaurant is undergoing a few changes, including menu updates and a slight signage upgrade.
“We’ve kind of reduced the size of the menu somewhat, but we’ve also lowered a lot of prices, too. [We] made it more in line with the big boys, like Domino’s, Pizza Hut, so it’s gonna be tremendous value for the dollar there,” Perna said.
Capo’s has two other locations, one at Huebner Road and another on Broadway, that will continue to operate as usual.
