Customers of a Hong Kong medical group suspected of abruptly ceasing operations discovered its Tsim Sha Tsui clinic was closed after visiting on Friday, with some clients having spent more than HK$10,000 (US$1,290) on getting vaccines for their children.
A Post reporter visited the Alliance Medical Group clinic, which is located in a commercial building on Ashley Road, and saw a Consumer Council letter to the site’s general manager had been slipped under its door.
In addition to the clinic in Tsim Sha Tsui, the group has another site in Sha Tin. The company, which offers prepaid services such as children’s vaccinations, has not officially announced whether it is closing down.
A mainland Chinese customer in his sixties, who arrived in Hong Kong on Friday from Dongguan to get a hepatitis A vaccination, said he was surprised to find the Tsim Sha Tsui clinic was closed.
“I originally arranged to come here two days ago, but changed my mind and decided to visit during the ‘golden week’. It’s my second jab, so I have already paid,” said the man, who did not wish to share his identity.
He also said he had spent several hundred Hong Kong dollars on getting the vaccination.
“It’s so unexpected. I thought the business was doing quite well. Why did it close down?” he said.
