Crash creates massive backup on I-77

(WJW) — The Ohio Department of Transportation reported several crashes along state highways before noon on Monday, Jan. 19, amid a snow squall warning in Northeast Ohio.

The sheriff’s offices in Erie and Huron counties on Monday morning issued Level 2 Snow Emergency, which means residents should travel only if necessary.

Sheriff’s offices in Portage and Richland counties declared Level 1 snow emergencies, indicating roads are hazardous, with blowing and drifting snow.

I-77 North in Akron

All lanes are closed on Interstate 77 North past Summit County Rest Area 4-31, due to a crash.

Ohio Department of Transportation traffic cameras show a massive backup extending to at least Martadale Drive.

I-76 East in Edinburg

All lanes are closed on Interstate 76 East past state Route 14 for Alliance and Salem due to a crash, according to ODOT.

I-80 East (Ohio Turnpike) in Streetsboro

Motorists on the Ohio Turnpike have been told to expect lane closures in the eastbound lanes, past Interstate 480 and state Route 14, due to a crash.

State Route 8 South in Peninsula

All lanes of state Route 8 South past the Ohio Turnpike in Peninsula are blocked for a crash.

I-271 North in Boston Heights

Motorists on Interstate 271 North past state Route 303 in Boston Heights should expect lane closures due to a crash.

The right shoulder is blocked on I-271 South past state Route 8 North in Boston, due to a disabled vehicle.
