Confirmed: Arsenal agree to pay Real Sociedad star’s release clause

Premier League giants Arsenal have this week reached a definitive agreement to sign a leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga outfit Real Sociedad.

The player in question? Martín Zubimendi.

The name of midfielder Zubimendi has of course long proven an altogether prominent one in the media headlines across not only Spain, but all of Europe.

This comes after two of the game’s standout clubs, namely Arsenal and Real Madrid, both made clear their keen interest in the signing of the 26-year-old.

The former were considered the favourites throughout the saga, amid long-standing claims of the Gunners being prepared to meet Zubimendi’s release clause.

And as alluded to above, on Wednesday, Mikel Arteta and co. appear to have landed their man.

As per a report from Sky Sports News:

‘Arsenal [are] finalising [a] deal to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Martín Zubimendi after meeting conditions of £51m release clause in [his] contract.’
