SEBOKENG.- The Church of Resurrection is proving that faith and fitness go hand in hand. On Sunday, the church hosted a wellness event for its congregation and the local Zone 10 community to promote a healthier lifestyle.
The event, themed “Take first step to live a healthy, happy life together,” focused on looking after the body, mind, and spirit as one.

Hilda Chaka, the organiser of the church’s wellness team, told Sedibeng Ster that the church aims to be more than just a place for preaching; it wants to be actively involved in the community’s health. During the session, Chaka urged residents to pay close attention to their bodies and visit a clinic regularly. He said life is too short and it is everyone’s responsibility to check their well-being.
There was a number of educational medical equipment displayed on how to check vital signs, including blood sugar and high-pressure levels.
The session was designed to teach people the importance of regular check-ups so they can receive medical treatment as early as possible. Those with worrying results were encouraged to visit their nearest health centre.

“We had an informative and educational session educating our congregation on how to take care of their well-being. It was a very exciting session for everyone in attendance, and I have no doubt they will use this to their advantage,” said Chaka.

Beyond physical tests, the team also helped parents looking for advice on the signs and symptoms of ADHD in children.
