The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate was announced for the global markets today at an event in Malaysia. The world’s first bi-folding phone comes with an eye-watering price tag, but you can read all the details in the article above.
We had a rare opportunity to take the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate for a spin in Kuala Lumpur’s streets, and the first camera samples are in. We’ll add night-time photos as soon as we have them.
The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate comes with a triple camera setup. The main cam we’ve seen before – it’s a 24mm 50 MP camera with a variable aperture (f/1.4-f/4.0), which has been available on a number of Huawei phones so far.
The 12MP ultrawide seems a bit dumbed down compared to the 40MP ultrawide used in the Huawei Mate X6. Still, at first glance, the photo quality looks good.

And finally, the 12 MP periscope telephoto with 5.5x optical zoom is a camera we haven’t seen on other recent Huawei phones as they usually go for 3.5x or 4x zoom cameras. This camera has an f/3.4 aperture, which is par for the course.

The camera hardware has probably not been the focus when developing the unique bi-fold. Still, Huawei phones rarely disappoint with image quality. We’ll update this article with some night-time shots as soon as we have them.
