The Housing Authority announced today that it will raise monthly car park charges starting January 1, 2024.
For private cars, the new monthly charges will be $1,570 to $2,610 for open parking spaces, and $1,900 to $3,150 for covered ones.
For light goods vehicles, the monthly rent for an open parking space will be $2,640, while a covered parking space will be $3,400.
Monthly rentals for parking a coach/bus will be $3,280 in an open space, and $4,350 in a covered one.
When parking a motorcycle, people can choose to pay $480 per month for an open space, or $630 for a covered space.
Meanwhile, the hourly rates will be raised by $1 for private car, light goods vehicle and motorcycle parking spaces.
Across all regions, the Day Pass and 24-hour Pass charges for private car parking spaces will be increased by $5 and $10 respectively in 2024.
According to market surveys done by the authority, the monthly charges of comparable car parks are generally going up, while the authority’s current monthly charges for various types of parking spaces are generally at the lower end within the range of charges for car parks in comparable sectors.
To ensure its financial stability and make its car park charges comparable to the market level, a mild increase in the monthly car park charges was endorsed, the authority explained.
