Apple TV has shared the teaser trailer for Cape Fear, its upcoming series adaptation of Martin Scorsese‘s classic 1991 thriller movie. The psychological drama show is scheduled to start streaming on June 5, with the first two episodes. It will then be followed by new episodes every Friday through July 31, 2026, on Apple TV.
“A storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna and Tom Bowden when Max Cad, the notorious killer they are responsible for putting behind bars, is let out of prison — and he wants vengeance,” reads the official synopsis.

What happens in the Cape Fear teaser trailer?
The video introduces its star-studded cast, led by Golden Globe winners Amy Adams (American Hustle) as Anna and Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men). It features a happy couple living a picture-perfect life with their two teenage children. However, someone from their past suddenly returns to haunt them. Together, they must face the consequences of their past decisions as they deal with an enemy who’s hellbent on terrorizing their family.
The Cape Fear series is also based on John D. MacDonald’s 1957 suspense thriller novel The Executioners. The show is created by showrunner Nick Antosca, who is executive producing alongside Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Adams, and Bardem. Joining the cast are Patrick Wilson, Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Malia Pyles, and CCH Pounder.
The remake is produced by Alex Hedlund for Eat The Cat, and Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey for Amblin Television, with Morten Tyldum and Amanda Marsalis directing and executive producing. S.J. Clarkson is also part of the directing lineup. It is a production by UCP.
