New photos taken in Davos, Switzerland, of President Donald Trump show significant bruising on his hand.
The discoloration, a combination of dark blue and purple, is seen in images shot at a Board of Peace event during the 56th annual World Economic Forum.
A close-up shot of Trump’s hand shows the heavy bruising.
Another image shows the president sitting in a chair, looking down at his bruised hand.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt attributed Trump’s bruise to the president hitting it on the corner of the table at the Board of Peace signing, CNN reported.
USA TODAY has reached out to the White House for comment.
In early January, in an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Trump addressed mysterious bruises on his hand and said he takes large doses of aspirin daily, which cause him to bruise easily.
The president told the outlet he takes 325 milligrams of aspirin a day ‒ more than his doctor recommends ‒ for “cardiac prevention.” A low dose of aspirin is most commonly 81 milligrams, according to the Mayo Clinic.
“They say aspirin is good for thinning out the blood, and I don’t want thick blood pouring through my heart,” Trump previously said. “I want nice, thin blood pouring through my heart. Does that make sense?”
