A stunning 1958 BMW 507 Series II Roadster, one of only 253 ever built, is poised to be a highlight at Broad Arrow Auctions’ The Amelia Auction on March 8, 2025. With an estimated value between $2.1 million and $2.3 million, this exceptionally rare German roadster represents one of the most collectible BMW models in existence.
Chassis No. 70110 is an exquisitely documented example, verified by BMW Classic’s Expertise Book and Zertifikat. Originally delivered in Silver Metallic, this 507 was displayed at the BMW Pavilion in Munich before being sold to its first owner in Caracas, Venezuela. Over the decades, it has passed through the hands of notable collectors in Germany and the United States, undergoing a meticulous restoration between 2006 and 2008.
The 507’s handcrafted aluminum bodywork, designed by Albrecht Graf von Goertz, remains one of the most celebrated automotive designs of all time. This example retains key factory-original features, including its date-coded Rudge wheels and rare factory-installed hardtop. Under the hood, the lightweight 3.2-liter aluminum V8 engine, producing 148 horsepower, is paired with a four-speed ZF manual transmission, making it a true grand touring machine of its era.
Restored to a concours-worthy standard, this 507 boasts an interior finished in rich red leather with period-correct details, a Becker Europa radio, and an ivory-white steering wheel. The accompanying BMW Classic “Black Book” confirms the car’s originality, earning it a coveted Category 1 rating with an impressive score of 900 out of 1,000 points in BMW’s stringent evaluation.
