BROWNSVILLE, Texas – A book signing ceremony for Brownsville physician Madhavan A. Pisharodi’s new book on the coronavirus takes place next week.
The event is being held at the eBridge Center for Business & Commercialization in downtown Brownsville at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
Pisharodi’s book is titled: “Corona Be Not Proud.” It provides concrete examples on ways to avoid the next pandemic, such as improving ventilation in homes and offices. The book is available on Amazon.com.
“I began writing this book in the year 2020. Over time, the contents and the tone required several revisions. Initially, there was shock and disbelief as the pandemic suddenly impacted our lives. This led me to focus towards studying and promoting various preventative and therapeutic measures,” Pisharodi wrote, in the prologue to his book.
However, as time passed, Pisharodi said he was “dismayed” to see that vaccines and many treatments did not significantly alter the course of the pandemic behavior.
“In fact, more people died in 2021 than 2020. By 2022, there was a glimmer of hope as the pandemic began to slow down and the death rate declined. By 2023, I was convinced that the virus had become less virulent, allowing us to finally start feeling some relief.”
In the book, Pisharodi said the virus was firmly in control.
“Our actions, whether we took them or not, made little difference in altering its course. This realization and some other features of the pandemic made me deeply critical of this virus and others that may emerge in the future,” Pisharodi said.
“I wanted to find a way to destroy the virus before it could enter our bodies, cause infection, damage our organs or lead to long-term complications like long COVID.”
