Barcelona make Spanish Super Cup history with thrashing of Athletic Club

Goals from Ferran Torres, Fermin Lopez, Roony Bardhgji and two from Raphinha made it an excellent night for Hansi Flick’s side as they aim to successfully defend their title.

Barcelona’s 5-0 win also saw the Catalans write their name into the history books as their victory is the biggest the competition has ever seen in a single match.

The victory also saw three different players involved in three goals in a Spanish Super Cup game for the first time since at least the 2010/11 season. Fermin grabbed a goal and two assists, Raphinha scored a brace and picked up an assist and Roony also scored and assisted twice.

Barcelona now progress to the final and a clash against either Real Madrid or Atletico on Sunday. The two city rivals face off on Thursday for the right to take on Barca.
