The brass at Barcelona have set sights on the signature of a member of the defensive ranks at La Liga rivals Real Betis.
This comes amid the understanding that Deco and co. have earmarked Nobel Mendy as a potential summer signing.

Mendy, for his part, is a 21-year-old defender, who chiefly lines out in a central role.
The Senegalese was farmed out on loan to Rayo Vallecano last summer, in search of more consistent top-flight playing time.
And recent months have seen Mendy secure precisely that.
The youngster is now considered an important member of the backline at Vallecas, and even chipped in with his 2nd goal of the campaign en route to a 3-0 downing of Atlético Madrid this past weekend.

With such impressive exploits, though, comes inevitable outside interest.
And as alluded to above, amongst a growing number of admirers of Mendy’s talents, it is understood, are those in a position of power at Barcelona.
As per a report from Fichajes, amid an ongoing search for reinforcements at the back for next season, the reigning Spanish champions have set sights on Real Betis’ up-and-coming talent:
‘Mendy’s development has not gone unnoticed at FC Barcelona. The Catalan club is looking to strengthen its defense with young players who combine current form with potential, and the Senegalese defender fits that profile perfectly.’
