Apple working on a cheaper Vision Pro, M3-powered MacBooks inching closer to launch

The latest newsletter from Mark Gurman sheds more light on Apple’s upcoming more affordable version of the Vision Pro AR/VR headset. According to the analyst the first feature to get axed to bring down the cost is the EyeSight functionality.

The EyeSight feature as it requires an external OLED display and input from cameras and sensors inside the headset, so omitting those would definitely help Apple bring down the price tag significantly. The company is said to aim for a $1,500-2,500 price tag.

Keep in mind, though, that previous reports suggest that the cheaper Vision Pro will come out sometime in 2025, while a hardware upgrade to the existing version will likely be postponed until 2027.

The newsletter also mentions some upcoming Apple M3-powered products, such as MacBook Pros, MacBook Airs and iPads. Gurman said that Apple has completed the development of all devices, but an announcement date is still unknown. It won’t be this month, though.

The new iPad Pro, for example, is rumored to arrive with an OLED display, a revamped design, a new Magic Keyboard and a faster chip.

The MacBook Pros with M3 Pro and M3 Max chips are scheduled for a spring 2024 release and the chip mass production is approaching fast. Unfortunately, the Airs will take longer to release, likely next summer.
