Angry Ginge Wins ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ On ITV

A content creator who went viral after uploading a fictional outburst about chips has won one of the UK’s biggest entertainment juggernauts.

Angry Ginge has charmed the nation over the past three weeks and last night took the I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! crown on ITV. He beat ex-EastEnders actor Shona McGarty, Celebs Go Dating star Tom Read Wilson and British rapper Aitch. The likes of Ozzy Osbourne’s son Jack Osbourne competed on this year’s show.

Set over three weeks and hosted by Ant and Dec, I’m a Celebrity remains one of the UK’s biggest entertainment shows, drawing more than 10 million consolidated viewers for some eps this year. Last night’s final was watched by a peak audience of nearly 7 million. The show sees celebrities take part in Bushtucker Trials and slowly get voted off by the public.

Angry Ginge is the first content creator to emerge victorious. The TikTok and YouTube star, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, began streaming in 2020 playing video games but went viral after a fictitious outburst about his struggle to get chips on a night out. His following grew into the millions as he continued posting rants about his soccer team Manchester United. He has also competed on The Sidemen’s reality series Inside, which recently switched from YouTube to Netflix.

Angry Ginge is one of an army of content creators now jumping aboard mainstream British TV, and his win could be a watershed moment. George Clarke is still competing for the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing crown and Niko Omilana took part on Celebrity Traitors, although he was banished first.
