TelevisaUnivision will be taking legal action against the people who leaked sensitive information from Quién Es La Máscara, the Mexican version of The Masked Singer.
The Spanish-language entertainment giant produces the show alongside EndemolShineBoomdog, with the most current sixth season airing simultaneously in Mexico and the U.S. on Univision.
Earlier this week, some reports said panelist Anahí and her manager, Danna Vázquez, were given the list of the identities of the celebrities competing on the show, which they have both denied. After an investigation, TelevisaUnivision cut ties with the people involved in the leak and said they would pursue legal action.
“After launching an internal investigation into an improper leak of information related to the sixth season of Quién Es La Máscara that aired between October and December 2024, we have terminated the working relationship with this production’s ‘community manager.’ Various legal actions are being carried out against this and other people,” TelevisaUnivision said in a statement.
The network also cleared Anahí, saying that they have had a working relationship of over 40 years in which she has “demonstrated respect and love to her home” at TelevisaUnivision, adding, “We recognize her, as always, professionalism and artistic career, achieving a successful show making it clear that there will be no legal process or claim against her in any jurisdiction.”
The Masked Singer format revolves around a group of celebrities that take the stage wearing costumes. A panel of celebrity judges try to guess who the masked singer is in every episode. The identity of the celebrity contestants is kept under wraps to avoid any spoilers.
Anahí also released her own statement saying that she was in contact with TelevisaUnivision to “clear up any situation that involves me,” adding, “I’ve never had anything to hide, and this is not the exception.”
The singer and actress has worked with TelevisaUnivision since childhood, starring in telenovelas like Primer Amor and Rebelde.
Anahí also distanced herself from talent manager Danna Vázquez, saying, “I don’t plan on working with them in future professional projects.”
