Castor Oil – I
To kick off my series on natural remedies for a healthy life, I want to share some insights about beneficial oils. Among them, castor oil stands out as an incredible oil that I can’t help but share with you.
Castor oil has a long history of use for various purposes and is highly regarded by naturopaths as a wonderful agent for maintaining one’s health. While there are numerous claims about the benefits of castor oil, it’s important to note that scientific evidence supporting some of these claims may be limited. However, I can share my personal experiences and recommendations based on popular usage.
Hair Health: Castor oil is commonly used topically to promote hair growth. Many YouTubers and beauty enthusiasts recommend castor oil for hair growth and thickening, including eyelash growth. While scientific evidence may be lacking but I did try and found it works. I suggest being a cautious consumer when purchasing castor oil. Look for organic, cold-pressed, and hexane-free options. Additionally, perform a patch test on a small area of skin to check for any allergic reactions before applying it to your scalp or eyelashes.
For hair loss or thinning hair, according to Australia Naturopath – Barbara O’Neill’s formular, you can create a hair growth mixture using ¼ cup of coconut oil, ¼ cup of castor oil, and 6 drops of rosemary essential oil. Apply this mixture to your scalp and cover it with a shower cap overnight. Shampoo your hair as usual the next day. Repeat this practice for a week and observe the results.
To enhance eyelash length and thickness, use a drop or more of the castor oil and gently massage it onto your eyelashes every night. You may notice a difference within a week.
Eye Issues: Castor oil is believed to penetrate deepen than any other oil into the body, and there are testimonies suggesting its potential benefits for dry eyes, floaters, and even cataracts. Some individuals massage the oil over their eyelids to allow it to penetrate into the eye muscles, while others use it as an eye drop at night to combat cataracts. While I haven’t personally tested it for cataracts, I have used castor oil to massage around my eyes for dry eyes and floaters. After three weeks of application, my dry eye issues improved, and the floaters became less noticeable. However, it’s important to remember that people react differently to treatments, so please perform an allergy test before trying it.
Skin Corrector: Many people have reported positive results when applying castor oil to irritated, sunburned, and acne-prone skin. Additionally, it may help smooth scars, such as pregnancy marks and cut scars.
Moisturizing and Nourishing Nails: Applying castor oil to your nails and cuticles can moisturize and strengthen them, promoting healthier nail growth and reducing the risk of breakage.
