SAN DIEGO, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A semi truck caught on fire on a highway bridge in San Diego on Tuesday, causing heavy traffic for several hours and sending hundreds of pounds of almonds onto a parking lot below.
Footage captured by a news helicopter showed the semi truck and its trailer destroyed by the flames on I-805.

Officials have not determined what caused the fire, which began around 6 a.m.
A FOX 5/KUSI team visited a business park below the highway and saw the parking lot covered in hundreds of pounds of almonds.
While on location, the team said even more almonds were actively falling from above.
The receptionist at Synergy Orthopedics, which is located in the business park, said that several cars in the parking lot had been damaged, and that CHP was on site marking off the scene.
Several medical offices are located in the Mission Valley business park.
