Akasa Air has flown over 10,000 pets since the launch of its ‘Pets on Akasa’ service in November 2022, the airline said today.

Since its launch, the service has seen consistent demand across key domestic routes, with repeat travel emerging as a strong indicator of customer confidence, the airline said.

Pet travel saw the highest demand during the festive season, with October–December accounting for nearly 35 per cent of annual journeys. Bengaluru-Delhi-Bengaluru saw the most pet carriage accounting for 13.6 per cent of all travel. Beyond metros strong demand for pet travel is seen on flights to/from Guwahati.

Dogs accounted for 60 per cent of all flown pets with cats making up the remaining 40 per cent. Akasa Air said 93 per cent of pets travelled in-cabin.

Akasa Air’s chief marketing officer Naarayan T V said 26 per cent of pet parents have travelled with the airline more than once, which reflects the trust they place in the travel experience.
