English Premier League side Crystal Palace moved into the Round of 32 of the UEFA Europa Conference League on Friday with a 2-0 win at Selhurst Park over Zrinjski Mostar.
Maxence Lacroix and Evann Guessand netted for Crystal Palace to give his side a win on the day and extend their aggregate to a 3-1 triumph.
“It means a lot. We didn’t have many easy weeks,” Glasner said.
“I always said, since day number one, we’ve had a great relationship with the fans. Yes, they were a little bit critical but they can be critical when the results and performances are not that well.”
Palace were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by Bosnian side Zrinjski in the first leg of their play-off tie last week.
However, Oliver Glasner’s team tured the tie around at home in front of adoring Eagles fans to earn the Engilsh Capital City club a Round of 16match against either Mainz or AEK Larnaca.
Following a poor run in the Premier League and a shocking FA Cup exit against sixth-tier Macclesfield, Glasner, who has confirmed he will leave at the end of the season, faced calls for his sacking.
Glasner gained some respite as Palace scored in the 36th minute when Adam Wharton’s free-kick found Lacroix, who headed home from close range. Guessand, who scored Palace’s winner against Wolves last weekend, drilled into the far corner from Brennan Johnson’s pass in stoppage time.
Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest managed to advance to the Round of 16 in the UEFA Europa League on Friday despite a 1-2 defeat to Fenerbahce at the Community Stadium, thanks to their 3-0 victory in the first leg.
Kerem Akturkoglu scored twice, leading the Turkish side to a 2-1 win on the day. However, Nottingham Forest secured their spot in the next round of the second-tier European competition with a 4-2 aggregate win.
