Fox has officially renewed one of its hit crime drama TV shows, more than five months after wrapping up its 10-episode second season. Titled Murder in a Small Town, the series is coming back for a third season, with lead stars Rossif Sutherland and Kristin Kreuk returning as Karl Alberg and Cassandra Lee.
Who is joining Fox’s Murder in a Small Town Season 3?
Per Deadline, Fox has also tapped The O.C. vet Peter Gallagher for a series regular role in Murder in a Small Town Season 3. He will be playing the character of Rod Finlayson in a season-long arc. This marks Gallagher’s first major TV project as a regular in a long while, after 2020’s Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. Further details about the new season’s plot are still under wraps.
According to Rod Finlayson’s full character description, “(He is) a charismatic, uber-independent, capable yet unreliable figure, whose arrival at the Gibsons’ marina on his beloved boat sets up a sequence of upheavals that Alberg and Cassandra will have to grapple with.”
Murder in a Small Town is based on L.R. Wright’s British Columbia-set crime novel series. The show also stars Aaron Douglas, Savonna Spracklin, Cassandra Sawtell, Dakota Guppy, Paloma Kwiatkowski, Alisha Newton, and more. It is executive-produced by Ian Weir, Amanda Tapping, Morris Ruskin, Sharon Wisnia, Tina Pehme, Kim Roberts, Jeff Wachtel, and Jared Berenholz, with Nick Orchard serving as a producer.
“We love bringing this cozy and delightful mystery to Fox fans, and we’re thrilled Murder in a Small Town has continued to resonate with our audience,” Fox Television Network executive Brooke Bowman said in a statement. “We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Sepia Films and Future Shack on Season 3, alongside our exceptional cast led by Rossif Sutherland and Kristin Kreuk, and soon to include the incomparable talent of Peter Gallagher as their newest adversary.”
