What happens in the This Tempting Madness trailer?
The trailer for the indie thriller teases Ashley’s descent into madness as she tries to unravel the mystery behind her fall. Along the way, she’ll have to contend with new revelations and potential betrayals from those closest to her. Besides her, the film’s cast includes Austin Stowell (Bridge of Spies), Suraj Sharma (Life of Pi), and Zenobia Shroff (Ms. Marvel).
Ashley is best known for playing Olivia Hanan in Netflix’s BAFTA-winning teen series Sex Education. Following that, Ashley’s career reached new heights when she appeared in the second Season of Bridgerton, opposite Jonathan Bailey‘s Viscount Anthony Bridgerton. After This Tempting Madness, there’s a strong chance that Ashley will return as Kate in Bridgerton Season 5.
This Tempting Madness is co-written and directed by debut filmmaker Jennifer E. Montgomery, and is produced by Andrew M. Davis & Jennifer E. Montgomery, Mimi Chang, William Day Frank, Jessica Malanaphy, and Marcei A. Brown under Montgomery and Davis’s Smoke Jumper Films banner, in partnership with Mango Monster Productions, CatchLight Studios, and William Day Frank. Inspired by a true story, The Tempting Madness premiered last year at the 56th International Film Festival of India in Goa on November 27.
The film’s plot will follow Ashley as an unreliable narrator, intercutting between her memories and the present. “When you’re suffering memory loss, nothing is accurate,” said Jennifer at the IFFI press conference last year. “So we built a visual structure that constantly moves between present and fractured memory.”
This Tempting Madness releases in select theaters and on demand, distributed by Vertical Entertainment, on June 12, 2026.
