Jason Momoa’s The Climb just left HBO Max
The Climb, the reality competition series backed by Jason Momoa, has been removed from HBO Max. A report from The Direct states that the show was taken off the platform on May 5, 2026, ending its availability there for now.
The series originally debuted on January 12, 2023, and consisted of eight episodes. It centers around a group of 10 amateur rock climbers who compete against one another while taking on a series of demanding challenges. These challenges are set across different locations around the world and involve a variety of climbing styles.
The competition offered a $100,000 grand prize, along with a $100,000 sponsorship from outdoor brand prAna. Alongside the competitive aspect, the series also highlighted the connections formed between participants and the impact of climbing on their lives.
The lineup of participants includes Robyn Ragins, Cat Runner, Alice Hafer, Dominique Barry, Tiffany Soithongsuk, Andre Braga, Bradford Burns, Mario Stanley, Maiza Lima, and April Welch. The project was executive produced by Momoa through his production company On the Roam, alongside renowned climber Chris Sharma. Meagan Martin is also part of the series’s hosting team.
Joel Keller of Decider noted in his review of the series, “Watching people climb rocks is pretty much the whole show. The scenery is spectacular, don’t get us wrong. But unless you’re really into rock climbing, or watching other people go rock climbing, there isn’t a whole lot that this show can offer you.”
The critic also noted that viewers expecting to see Momoa prominently in The Climb may be disappointed. He appears only during location scouting and is not present during the competitive climbs.
