Stranger Things‘ live-action series may be over, but the franchise is continuing strong, with some big news on one of the show’s spin-offs at Netflix.
What’s the new Stranger Things update?
According to a new report from Variety, Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, the animated spin-off series, has been renewed for a second season. The news comes just days after the show premiered its first season on Netflix.
The show, which takes place between the second and third seasons of the hit Netflix series, follows the story of the kids from the show dealing with a different threat as they try to settle down from the end of Season 2.
The voice cast for Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 doesn’t feature the original cast of the show, but is instead led by Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Luca Diaz as Mike, Ej (Elisha) Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Ben Plessala as Will, and Brett Gipson as Hopper. Additional voice cast includes Odessa A’zion, Janeane Garofalo, and Lou Diamond Phillips.
“In the winter of 1985, snow blankets the town, and the horrors of the Upside Down are finally fading. Our heroes Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max have settled back into a normal life of D&D, snowball fights, and quiet days. But beneath the ice, something terrifying has awakened. Could it be from the Upside Down? From the depths of Hawkins Lab? Or from somewhere else entirely? Our heroes must race to solve this mystery and save Hawkins in this new story set in the Stranger Things universe,” reads the show’s official synopsis.
