Super Mario Galaxy Games & Nintendo Switch 2 Get Exciting Discount After Movie Release

In honor of the recently released The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Nintendo is allowing fans the chance to play the game that inspired the name of the movie at a discount.

What discount is available for the Nintendo Switch 2?

Nintendo announced that it is offering up a limited-time offer, allowing fans to pick up its newest system, the Nintendo Switch 2, as well as the Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 games, for a discount. From April 12-May 9, 2026, fans can purchase the Nintendo Switch 2 and the physical or digital versions of the games and save $20 at participating retailers from Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target, and Walmart.

The classic Super Mario games also feature free updates for the Nintendo Switch 2, which enables 4K resolution support and Joy-Con 2 mouse controls for a second player for the game.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie released earlier this month, and has already been a massive success for Illumination and Nintendo. To date, the movie has grossed over $370 million at the global box office, and remains the top movie in the world.

The voice cast of the Super Mario Galaxy Movie also includes Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Brie Larson as Rosalina, Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr., Donald Glover as Yoshi, Luis Guzmán as Wart, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

The movie is directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic. The screenplay comes from Matthew Fogel, while Chris Meledandri produces the movie for Illumination, and Shigeru Miyamoto produces for Nintendo. Brian Tyler returns to compose the score.
