Polymarket Becomes Exclusive Prediction Market Partner of the Spanish Football League La Liga

Polymarket, one of the largest event market platforms in the world, has scored yet another partnership with a sports world leader.

Polymarket just recently became the Official and Exclusive Prediction Market Partner of La Liga, the first division football league. The league, which hosts many of the world’s largest and most successful teams, will now license its intellectual property to Polymarket, allowing its logos to appear in relevant event markets on the platform.

According to a press release, Polymarket will also offer La Liga fans the ability to “engage with Spain’s premier soccer league and its stars at an unprecedented level,” highlighting “premium broadcast visibility, fan-focused digital and social programming, and exclusive fan experiences such as VIP match hospitality and virtual meet-and-greets with La Liga legends.”

Engagement is the key concept here, as La Liga seeks to capture more of the new generations who enjoy content on platforms that go beyond the game itself. Boris Gartner, current CEO of La Liga North America, who previously served as COO for Televisa’s content division, stated that the growth of football in the U.S is “spearheaded by young, diverse and multicultural audiences who consume the game across multiple screens, so it’s our goal to continue to engage these demographics in new and unique ways.”

Furthermore, he stated that one of the objectives of this partnership is to “bring these audiences closer to the beautiful game than ever before.” “We couldn’t think of a better partner than Polymarket to achieve that,” he concluded.

Polymarket founder and CEO Shayne Coplan agreed with Gartner’s take, stating that this partnership will bring a higher degree of interaction for North American audiences to engage with the league.

The partnership is revealed at a time when a judicial battle is being waged between states, prediction markets, and federal regulators for the oversight of these event markets, which some equate with gambling platforms.
