6th April 2026 – (Kuala Lumpur) Hong Kong music legend Samuel Hui has proved that age is no barrier to star power, drawing ecstatic crowds during his latest concert trip to Malaysia.
The 77‑year‑old Cantopop pioneer, who has been in the industry for more than six decades, remains as devoted to music as ever. His arrival in Malaysia for a series of performances triggered scenes of excitement, with fans turning out in force at every stop.
When Hui landed at the airport, throngs of admirers were already waiting to welcome him. Accompanied by his wife of more than 50 years, Rebu — of American‑Filipino heritage — the singer travelled by airport shuttle, the couple seated closely together throughout the journey. Hui repeatedly waved to supporters lining the route, appearing relaxed and gracious despite the intensity of the reception. Observers noted that he looked remarkably sprightly and fit.
The fervour only intensified when he reached the rehearsal venue. Supporters surged forward in hopes of catching a closer glimpse of their idol, leading to moments of jostling and disorder. Staff and security personnel were required to form a protective cordon, assisting the veteran performer as he made his way inside — a vivid testament to his enduring popularity.
Although movement became difficult amid the pushing crowd, Hui remained composed, an impressive display for an artist nearing his eighth decade. On stage, he was firmly in his element. Delivering a string of timeless classics with clarity and vigour, he commanded the audience with the same charisma that first made him a household name, leaving concertgoers spellbound.
