Hulu subscribers can now watch one of 2023’s underrated supernatural horror movies, starring Late Night with the Devil’s David Dastmalchian. The movie was based on a short story by Stephen King, which was first published in the 1973 issue of Cavalier magazine.

Beginning today, 20th Century Studios’ horror thriller film The Boogeyman is finally available to stream on Hulu, more than two years after debuting in theaters. The ensemble cast included Chris Messina as Will Harper, Sophie Thatcher as Sadie Harper, Vivien Lyra Blair as Sawyer Harper, Dastmalchian as Lester, Marin Ireland as Rita, Madison Hu as Bethany, and LisaGay Hamilton as Dr. Weller. During its theatrical run, it grossed over $82 million at the global box office. The movie also received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike. It currently holds a Tomatometer rating of 60% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 197 reviews.
“High school student Sadie Harper and her younger sister Sawyer are reeling from the recent death of their mother and aren’t getting much support from their father, Will, a therapist who is dealing with his own pain. When a desperate patient unexpectedly shows up at their home seeking help, he leaves behind a terrifying supernatural entity that preys on families and feeds on the suffering of its victims,” reads the official synopsis.
The Boogeyman was directed by Rob Savage (Host) from a screenplay adapted by Black Swan’s Mark Heyman, based on the original drafts co-written by Akela Cooper with A Quiet Place scribes Scott Beck and Bryan Woods. Executive producers were Beck and Woods, with Shawn Levy, Dan Levin, and Dan Cohen serving as producers.
